Peer Support Coordinator
Job Summary: Provides coordination of peer support training content under the direction of the CISM Executive Team and the CISM Clinical Coordinator. Acts as a liaison with the State Fire Marshall and POST’s for training approval. Ensures quality and consistency in training courses.
Accountability:
- Responds to requests for peer support training in collaboration with the Utah Department of Health and CISM Executive Team approved peer support instructors.
- Offers encouragement and support to first responder organizations for peer support. May make recommendations for appropriate resources to first responder organizations.
- As per team protocol, completes the required records of activities. This includes records of expenses incurred during training outreach or training courses and and total hours engaged in debriefings or training activities.
- Delivers in-house educational programs approved by the outreach and training coordinator. Promotes the benefits of peer support training.
- Serves as assigned, or volunteered, on the team’s sub-committees.
- May write articles or provide relevant information to CISM Team Newsletter Editor. Maintains current knowledge of team activities through reading of the newsletter.
- Maintains strict confidentiality regarding peer support individual discussions, including topics discussed and personnel involved. Any breach of confidentiality will result in immediate removal of individual from the team and program.
- Understands and promotes legal requirements for peer support training, programs, and policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- CISM Team member in good standing with their agency, or with the approval of the CSIM Executive Team. This could include retired personnel.
- Complete peer support training and participate in the annual training and other required training sessions as summarized in By-Laws Article 2.
- Ability to volunteer a flexible number of hours needed for support activities, i.e., subcommittee member, data research, in-house educator, etc.
